Privacy Policy

MyMeetly exists to tell you when a friend you've chosen is nearby — nothing more. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and the guardrails that keep it from being used any other way.

What we collect

• Your location — used to check whether someone in your mutual loop is within the radius you set. We store your most recent location, not a history of everywhere you've been.
• Your contacts, in one specific way — when you add someone to your loop, we store a one-way cryptographic hash of their phone number, not the number itself and not your address book. We cannot reverse a hash back into a phone number.
• Your interests — the topics you pick at signup (coffee, hiking, etc.), used to suggest meetup spots.
• Basic account info — your name and, if you choose to share it, your email, from Sign in with Apple.
• Device push token — used only to deliver notifications to your device.
• Plans, expenses, and photos you create — if you use group planning or bill splitting, that plan's title, time, location, and expense amounts are stored so participants can see them. Shared photos are the one exception to "stored by MyMeetly": they live in each participant's own iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit, not on MyMeetly's servers at all — see "Shared photos" below.
• Messages within a plan — if you use the group chat for a plan, the messages you send are stored so the other participants in that plan can see them. They're visible only to people in that plan, are never used for advertising, and are deleted when the plan is deleted or your account is removed.
• Your app preferences — settings like your radius, quiet hours, notification choices, and the list of people you've blocked, so the app behaves the way you set it.

What a mutual match actually sees of your location

Even between two people who've both added each other, MyMeetly never shares your exact coordinates. What the other person's app receives is a deliberately imprecise position — offset by roughly 250–650 meters in a direction that changes daily — which resolves to a city or neighborhood name, or at most a street name when they're zoomed in. It never resolves to your exact address, building, or GPS position. This offsetting happens on our servers before your location data is sent to their device at all; their app has no way to recover your real position from what it receives.

How matching actually works

Adding someone to your loop does not give you or them any visibility into each other's location. A match is only created — and a notification only sent — when both people have independently added each other. One-sided adds are invisible and produce no data about the other person at all.

Shared photos

When you set up shared photos for a plan, MyMeetly uses Apple's CloudKit to create a shared album between participants. Those photos are stored in each participant's own iCloud account, governed by Apple's iCloud terms — not uploaded to or stored on MyMeetly's own servers. Removing yourself from a plan or deleting the app does not delete photos already shared this way; you'd manage those the same way you'd manage any other iCloud content.

What we never do

• We never sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.
• We never show your exact location to anyone, including confirmed mutual matches — only the approximate, offset position described above.
• We never upload your full contact list — only the hashed numbers you explicitly add.
• We never use your location or contacts for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Your controls

• Remove anyone from your loop at any time — this immediately stops any future matching with them.
• Turn off notifications or background location entirely from the app or from iOS Settings.
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us (see below) — we'll remove your profile, loop entries, saved places, and history within 30 days. Because shared photos live in participants' own iCloud accounts rather than on our servers, deleting your MyMeetly account does not remove photos already shared with others this way.

Third-party services we use

MyMeetly uses Apple's Sign in with Apple for authentication, Apple's Push Notification service to deliver alerts, Apple MapKit for maps and for searching when you pick a specific place or add a stop to a trip, Apple WeatherKit for the current conditions shown on the home screen, and Apple's CloudKit for optional shared photo albums. These are all Apple's own services, governed by Apple's privacy terms, and each receives only the minimum data needed for that one function.

One lookup happens outside Apple. When you ask MyMeetly to suggest somewhere to meet, we find nearby venues using OpenStreetMap, a non-profit mapping project. What gets sent is the approximate midpoint between you and the person you're meeting, along with the kind of place being looked for — never your own position, your name, or any identifier that could tie that request back to you. Nothing about you is stored on their side.

We never sell or share your location or your contacts with advertisers or data brokers.

Children

MyMeetly is not directed to children. You must be at least 17 years old to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 17, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a material way, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
