Privacy Policy

MyMeetly exists to tell you when a friend you've chosen is nearby — nothing more. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and the guardrails that keep it from being used any other way.

The short version: your location and your loop are never visible to anyone until both people have added each other — and even then, what's shared on the nearby map is a deliberately approximate location, never your exact position. The one exception is a plan you've accepted: while its live map is open, the people on that plan can see each other's actual location, so you can find each other on the day. That's described in full under Live location during a plan. Nothing is sold. Nothing is used to advertise to you. You can delete your account and everything tied to it at any time.

What we collect

Your location — used to check whether someone in your mutual loop is within the radius you set. We store your most recent location, not a history of everywhere you've been.
Your contacts, in one specific way — when you add someone to your loop, we store a one-way cryptographic hash of their phone number, not the number itself and not your address book. We cannot reverse a hash back into a phone number.
Your interests — the topics you pick at signup (coffee, hiking, etc.), used to suggest meetup spots.
Basic account info — your name and, if you choose to share it, your email, from Sign in with Apple. If you set a profile photo, it's stored with your account so the people in your loop can see who you are.
Device push token — used only to deliver notifications to your device.
Plans and expenses you create — if you use group planning or bill splitting, that plan's title, time, location, and expense amounts are stored so participants can see them. A photo of a receipt, if you attach one to a bill, is stored with that expense and visible to the people on that plan.
Messages within a plan — if you use the group chat for a plan, the messages and any photos you send are stored so the other participants in that plan can see them. Photos come only from the ones you choose in Apple's photo picker; MyMeetly never has access to the rest of your photo library. They're visible only to people in that plan, are never used for advertising, and are deleted when the plan is deleted or your account is removed.
Your app preferences — settings like your radius, quiet hours, notification choices, and the list of people you've blocked, so the app behaves the way you set it.

What a mutual match actually sees of your location

On the nearby map — the everyday, always-on part of MyMeetly — even two people who've both added each other never see each other's exact coordinates. What the other person's app receives is a deliberately imprecise position, offset by roughly 250–650 meters in a direction that changes daily, which resolves to a city or neighborhood name, or at most a street name when they're zoomed in. It never resolves to your exact address, building, or GPS position. This offsetting happens on our servers before your location data is sent to their device at all; their app has no way to recover your real position from what it receives.

Live location during a plan

There is one deliberate exception to the offsetting above, and it exists so that people who've agreed to meet can actually find each other.

When you accept a specific plan, you join that plan's live map. While that map is open, you and the other people who accepted the same plan can see each other's last known position on it, without the 250–650 meter offset. Precisely what this is limited to:

Only that one plan. Sharing is scoped to a single plan you accepted. It gives nobody standing access to your location, and it does not carry over to any other plan, to your loop generally, or to anyone who was merely invited and didn't accept.
Only people who accepted it too. Our server refuses the request outright unless the person asking has themselves accepted that same plan.
Only while the map is open. The screen stops requesting positions the moment you navigate away from it.
Still not precise GPS. MyMeetly asks iOS for roughly 100-meter accuracy rather than the most precise fix available, and your position is only re-sent after you've moved at least 100 meters. So the live map shows a coarse position that updates as you travel — not a continuous, pinpoint trace.
You can end it at any time. Leaving the plan, declining it, or turning off location for MyMeetly in iOS Settings all stop it.

Nobody outside the people on that plan can see it, and there is no public or discoverable map of users anywhere in MyMeetly.

How matching actually works

Adding someone to your loop does not give you or them any visibility into each other's location. A match is only created — and a notification only sent — when both people have independently added each other. One-sided adds are invisible and produce no data about the other person at all.

What we never do

We never sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.
We never show your location on the nearby map as anything but the approximate, offset position described above — not even to confirmed mutual matches. The single exception is the live map of a plan you accepted, described under Live location during a plan.
We never make your location visible to strangers, to the public, or to anyone you haven't mutually added. There is no discoverable map of users.
We never upload your full contact list — only the hashed numbers you explicitly add.
We never use your location or contacts for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Your controls

Remove anyone from your loop at any time — this immediately stops any future matching with them.
Turn off notifications or background location entirely from the app or from iOS Settings.
Request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us (see below) — we'll remove your profile, loop entries, saved places, and history within 30 days. You can also delete your account yourself, at any time, from Account in the app.

Third-party services we use

MyMeetly uses Apple's Sign in with Apple for authentication, Apple's Push Notification service to deliver alerts, Apple MapKit for maps and for searching when you pick a specific place or add a stop to a trip, and Apple WeatherKit for the current conditions shown on the home screen and the forecast on a plan. These are all Apple's own services, governed by Apple's privacy terms, and each receives only the minimum data needed for that one function.

One lookup happens outside Apple. When you ask MyMeetly to suggest somewhere to meet, we find nearby venues using OpenStreetMap, a non-profit mapping project. What gets sent is the approximate midpoint between you and the person you're meeting, along with the kind of place being looked for — never your own position, your name, or any identifier that could tie that request back to you. Nothing about you is stored on their side.

We never sell or share your location or your contacts with advertisers or data brokers.

Children

MyMeetly is not directed to children. You must be at least 17 years old to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 17, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a material way, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
